Daniel Siad, a Paris-based model recruiter who introduced young women to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, was discovered deceased inside his Colombes residence. Marie-Céline Lawrysz, deputy public prosecutor at the Nanterre Judicial Court, confirmed the finding to CNN on Wednesday. Medical examiners will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Business Ties Survived Epstein’s Conviction

Siad spent over a decade connecting aspiring models with Epstein, maintaining commercial relationships even after the financier’s 2008 sex-offense conviction. He invited fashion industry professionals to gatherings and allowed Epstein access to his network. In a June interview with CNN’s Katie Polglase, Siad expressed confidence that two women he had recommended—both later abuse reporters—had not been harmed.

“I trusted him and believed this guy was a professional person,” Siad told CNN. “I never heard anything from anyone I introduced to him who came back to me that they had a bad situation. I believed this guy is a professional person.”

The recruiter maintained that Epstein personally assured him he had compensated for past offenses and promised such incidents would not recur. Siad also believed Epstein worked as a casting director for Victoria’s Secret and MC2 modeling agency, though CNN found no documentation confirming this claim.

Paris Investigation Continues

The Paris Public Prosecutor’s office announced that comprehensive Epstein-related investigations—launched in February and covering human trafficking and criminal conspiracy—would proceed without interruption. Twenty-four women have either come forward or been identified through information reviews and public appeals. Investigators have interviewed at least sixteen women so far, with more sessions planned.

Prosecutors indicated they have not yet gathered sufficient evidence to arrest Siad. “Daniel Siad was the subject of special investigative techniques, including telephone intercepts, although to date these have not produced evidence justifying his immediate arrest,” the office stated. Department of Justice records show Epstein transferred tens of thousands of dollars to Siad over the years.

Messages Reveal Connections

Communication records between the two men show Siad sending photographs of young women he encountered while traveling, many captured in suggestive positions. In one message, he wrote: “Cute French girl in Marrakesh… She said that she will (be) happy to meet you.” Siad also helped Epstein find assistants, including a 2018 email seeking a “good looking young assistant” and another message featuring a woman he described as “very polite” with “potential” as either a model or assistant.

“If it wasn’t for him, my life would have unfolded completely differently,” Svetlana Pozhidaeva, a Russian-born model, told CNN Wednesday. She said that Siad’s death meant that he could not be held accountable. “I wanted for justice to be served, for there to be some kind of investigation and achieve some closure.”

Pozhidaeva previously informed CNN that Siad had introduced her to Epstein and that the financier had abused her. Siad’s name appears more than two thousand times within the Department of Justice’s Epstein collection, according to CNN affiliate BFMTV. His legal representative, Ménya Arab-Tigrine, stated on Wednesday that his client had willingly “subject himself to the grueling media spotlight…to see the truth come to light.” Arab-Tigrine added that they must await autopsy findings to determine whether his body simply failed, emphasizing that his client remained innocent and had not been formally implicated in any legal proceedings.

Epstein’s connections to the modeling sector remain under examination through an ongoing criminal probe launched this year in Paris, which reviews information pertaining to Siad according to the city’s chief prosecutor. Beyond the Epstein-related matters, Siad faced separate accusations of abuse, including a rape allegation from a model who claimed the incident occurred while she was working in France in 1990—an accusation Siad consistently denied.
