Principal’s Bold Action Stands Out in Oklahoma Shooting

CCTV footage captured a dramatic moment at Pauls Valley High School on 7 April when Principal Kirk Moore confronted an active shooter. Victor Hawkins, the assailant, had entered the school and begun firing. Moore charged forward, managing to subdue Hawkins in a swift move. A staff member then intervened, taking the weapon from the gunman’s grasp.

Despite the chaos, Moore sustained a leg injury during the confrontation but has since recovered and been discharged from the hospital. Hawkins was apprehended on-site and faces multiple charges, including two counts of pointing a firearm, one of shooting with intent to kill, and two of unlawful carrying.

Astronauts Break Records in Historic Lunar Mission

The Artemis II crew members set a new benchmark for distance traveled from Earth during their 10-day mission. Their journey around the Moon surpassed the previous record of 248,655 miles (400,171km) achieved by the Apollo 13 crew in 1970. The four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft reached further than any humans in history, with Christina Koch stating,

“It is so great to hear from Earth again.”

Rebecca Morelle, the BBC’s Science Editor, observed the launch from just three miles away as the most powerful rocket ever built lifted off from Florida. After overcoming delays and technical challenges, the mission marked the first crewed lunar voyage in 50 years, now orbiting Earth.
