Justin Bieber headlines Coachella with nostalgia-fuelled set
Justin Bieber returned to the Coachella stage as the much-anticipated headliner, delivering a performance steeped in nostalgia. At 32, the singer devoted much of Saturday night’s concert to revisiting his early hits, such as “Baby” and “Never Say Never,” while projecting YouTube clips of his past work onto the stage. This approach paid homage to the platform where his career began, with the audience captivated by the throwback vibes.
This marked Bieber’s largest stage appearance in four years, following the cancellation of his Justice tour due to health challenges. He kicked off the event alone on an open stage, performing tracks from his 2025 albums “Swag” and “Swag II,” before shifting focus to his earlier catalog. During the show, he repeatedly asked the crowd, “How far back do you go?” signaling a deliberate journey through his musical history.
Bieber also highlighted a recent viral moment, sharing a clip where he confronted a photographer and declared:
“It’s not clocking to you, I’m standing on business.”
The segment sparked discussions about his mental state, though he later incorporated more lighthearted moments with home videos from his teenage years.
Hailey Bieber, his spouse, was spotted in the audience, joining fans like Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. The performance contrasted sharply with Sabrina Carpenter’s Hollywood-themed set the previous night, which featured elaborate costumes, choreography, and dynamic stage designs. Meanwhile, Colombian pop star Karol G will take over as Sunday’s headliner.
Coachella, held over two weekends in the California desert, continues to draw over 100,000 daily attendees, as confirmed by Indio police. Since 2002, the festival has been hosted at the Empire Polo Club, offering a unique blend of art, music, and culture that remains a global phenomenon.
