Woman Killed in Dog Attack at House Named Locally
A 19-year-old woman, identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, died after a dog attack at her home in Leaden Roding, Essex. Emergency crews arrived at Long Hide, a property near Dunmow, at 22:45 BST on Friday and found her with critical injuries. Despite urgent efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene, the police confirmed.
The 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been taken into custody on suspicion of allowing his dog to act dangerously out of control, resulting in fatal injuries. The animal was confiscated, and specialized officers secured the area to prevent further risks. A police cordon remained at the location on Sunday.
“I know this incident will be a shock to the local community. My thoughts, and those of everyone at Essex Police, are with the family and friends of the woman who passed away yesterday,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper on Saturday.
Hooper added that investigators are examining the circumstances to determine the exact sequence of events. The force is seeking public assistance, urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage, or other relevant information to contact them using incident number 1419, which was reported on April 10.
Local Church Offers Support
The St Michael and All Angels church in the village has announced plans to hold a prayer service and light candles at 3 PM on Sunday afternoon, as part of a tribute to the victim.
