Two additional suspects detained following fatal shooting in Woolwich

A 14-year-old boy, Eghosa Ogbebor, was fatally shot on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich, south-east London, around 15:40 BST on Thursday. The incident occurred at the scene, with authorities confirming the victim’s death. On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man on murder charges. A 46-year-old man was also taken into custody for suspected assistance to the offender.

Earlier arrests and bail conditions

Three individuals were arrested on Friday for involvement in the case, including two teenagers aged 14 and 16, along with an 18-year-old man. All three were released on bail. Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, overseeing the investigation, noted: “Our team of detectives is diligently pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding Eghosa’s death.” She added that Woolwich residents might have seen heightened police activity late Thursday as officers detained three more people linked to the inquiry.

“We are grateful for the public’s attention to Eghosa’s passing, especially within the local community. Continued police presence in the area is expected as the investigation progresses,” said Card.
