Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star Will Not Face Rape Charges
Arrest and Investigation Details
Hertfordshire Police confirmed that a male celebrity from the BBC dance competition, whose identity remains confidential, will not be charged following a rape investigation. The individual was detained on 13 October 2025 and placed under investigation, with bail granted to facilitate further inquiry. On Tuesday, authorities stated that after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, detectives concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to proceed with criminal charges.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape. The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action. Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges.”
The Sun highlighted at the time of the arrest that the man was accused of sexually assaulting a woman following a BBC event. The newspaper noted the woman was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, but had met the man due to his participation in the competition. It is understood the development was not related to the most recent series of Strictly.
Previous Arrests and Context
Earlier in August, another individual linked to the popular BBC dance show was also taken into custody on suspicion of rape and non-consensual intimate image abuse. It is not known what role that individual had in the programme. The BBC dance competition, which airs from September to December, is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
