Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on

Savannah Guthrie made her way back to the studio of NBC’s Today show on Monday, marking her return after a brief hiatus. The event coincided with the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who was last seen on January 30. Her absence from the program began shortly after that date, when Nancy went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding her mother’s whereabouts, Guthrie expressed her determination to resume her role. In a recent interview, she stated, “I can’t not come back. This is my family,” underscoring her commitment to the job. She had temporarily stepped away from her duties as an anchor, including NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics, to focus on the search.

“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'” Guthrie declared in a video message shared from Good Shepherd New York during the Easter Sunday service.

Guthrie’s mother vanished without her medications, leaving relatives concerned. She was dropped off at her home by family on the evening of January 31, but failed to appear at a friend’s residence the next morning for a virtual Sunday service. The family later announced a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s safe return. Investigators suspect she was taken against her will but have yet to reveal a motive or arrest a suspect.
