Eamonn Holmes ‘doing OK’ after stroke, his son says
Eamonn Holmes’s son, Declan, shared an update about his father’s condition following a recent stroke. “We’re taking it one step at a time,” he said, emphasizing the family’s commitment to maintaining stability for the 66-year-old GB News presenter. Declan also expressed gratitude for the public’s support, stating that the family appreciated privacy as they move forward.
We’d really value a bit of privacy as we navigate it [sic], and what lies ahead, but thank you again for the support as it means so much to dad and the rest of the family.
On Saturday, GB News issued a statement confirming Holmes’s hospitalization after the incident last week. The channel noted he was “responding well to treatment” and described him as a “loved member of the GB News family.” Chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos added, “we’re with him every step of the way as he recovers,” highlighting the organization’s dedication to his recovery.
Declan’s message was accompanied by an image of him supporting his father. Holmes, originally from Northern Ireland, has faced several health challenges over the years, including spinal surgery, a double hip replacement, and difficulties with mobility. He has been a prominent figure in breakfast television for decades, previously hosting shows on ITV and Sky News.
Before joining GB News in 2022, Holmes was part of ITV’s This Morning team, where he frequently partnered with Ruth Langsford, whom he married in 2010. The couple announced their separation in 2024, with a spokesperson confirming their marriage was over and they were beginning the divorce process.
A stroke occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted, according to NHS guidelines. Symptoms can include face weakness, arm drooping, and speech impairments. Holmes’s recent health setback adds to his history of medical challenges, underscoring the importance of his ongoing care.
